Digital Agencies are Too Focused on Efficiency, and Not Effectiveness

Joel Norton  |  June 29, 2021

The late American author Peter Drucker defined “Efficiency as doing things right, and effectiveness as doing the right things.”

Most agency owners are too focused on efficiency. Implementing systems and procedures to improve their delivery, profit and ability to scale.

However at the core, digital agencies are using an outdated business model, one that is over 30 years old. So the opportunity to experience new world performance is limited.

The answer is to first upgrade your delivery (and compensation) models to one that is more effective in today's market.

Then, work on the efficiency of how you do it.

“Do the right thing” first (Effectiveness), then “do things right” (Efficiency).
